Water Balance Modeller / Hydrologist Full Time

An exciting opportunity is available for a Water Balance Modeller / Hydrologist to join our client’s growing specialist team in Pretoria. This role is suited to a technically minded professional who is passionate about integrated water resource management and enjoys solving complex hydrological challenges within the mining industry.

Key Responsibilities
• Build, maintain, and refine integrated water balance models using GoldSim.
• Analyse rainfall-runoff processes, groundwater recharge, and surface water systems.
• Develop water quality and salinity models to support environmental and operational objectives.
• Conduct hydrological assessments and catchment modelling for mining projects.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and modelling documentation for clients and regulators.
• Perform site inspections and gather field data to validate model assumptions.
• Support multidisciplinary project teams with technical water resource expertise.
• Ensure modelling outputs align with project objectives and environmental requirements.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or environmental discipline.
• 3–5 years’ experience in hydrology, water resources, or integrated water management.
• Practical experience in catchment hydrology and water balance modelling.
• Mining sector experience is advantageous.
• SACNASP or ECSA registration, or progression towards professional registration, will be beneficial.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel when required.
