Our client is seeking a highly experienced Resident Engineer to lead construction supervision and contract administration on a major bulk water supply project. This senior position will provide on-site leadership across multidisciplinary construction activities, with a particular focus on Water Treatment Works, dams, bulk water, and hydraulic infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as the Engineer’s on-site representative for a major Water Treatment Works contract.
• Lead and manage the multidisciplinary Construction Supervision Team.
• Oversee construction activities and ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, programme, quality, and contractual requirements.
• Manage the planning, coordination, and implementation of construction works.
• Monitor the Contractor’s programme and budget and implement measures to maintain project progress.
• Manage a large multidisciplinary construction monitoring team.
• Control drawings, technical documentation, and construction records.
• Evaluate construction works throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and issue payment certificates.
• Administer contractual claims, assist with dispute resolution, and make contractual determinations where required.
• Manage site health and safety requirements and monitor compliance.
• Oversee quality control procedures, including materials and construction activities.
• Prepare monthly progress reports, incident reports, and related site documentation.
• Liaise with the Client, communities, landowners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Manage Target Enterprise Contractors.
• Maintain accurate daily diaries, photographic records, progress reports, quality records, and As-Built information.
• Chair and attend progress, technical, and other project meetings.
Requirements:
• Matric / Grade 12.
• BSc Engineering, BEng, or equivalent relevant tertiary qualification.
• Professional registration with ECSA and SACPCMP, or similar professional registration.
• 15 years’ experience as a Resident Engineer on complex multidisciplinary engineering construction contracts; alternatively, 30 years’ experience as a Resident Engineer on comparable projects.
• Experience on at least three projects with construction values exceeding R500 million.
• Proven working knowledge of GCC 2010 and GCC 2015.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including MS Project.
• Demonstrable experience in Water Treatment Works and dams engineering is essential.
• Experience with large-scale bulk water, treatment, and hydraulic infrastructure.
• Strong construction supervision and contract administration experience.
