A well-established consulting engineering firm is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer or Technologist to join its team in either East London or Cape Town.
The organisation delivers projects across both building services and civil infrastructure, including HVAC systems, fire protection, pump stations, and water infrastructure. This role offers hands-on involvement across the full project lifecycle, from inception through to close-out.
What you’ll be doing:
• Design and manage mechanical building services: HVAC & refrigeration, wet services, lifts, and fire protection (sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels)
• Design mechanical elements of water and wastewater infrastructure, including pump stations, rising mains, and pipelines
• Administer engineering contracts and act as Engineer’s Representative on site
• Compile technical reports across all project stages – inception, design, tender evaluation, progress, and close-out
• Conduct condition assessments of existing mechanical installations
• Prepare Bills of Quantities and technical specifications
• Manage construction oversight, quality control, and site meetings
• Engage directly with clients and project professionals throughout the project lifecycle
Minimum Requirements:
• B.Eng, B.Sc(Eng), or B.Tech in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
• 2-5 years post-graduate experience
• Demonstrated experience in building services (HVAC, wet services, fire protection, lifts)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit MEP experience is an advantage
• Familiarity with BIM platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud
• Valid driver’s licence
