Senior Fire Engineer Full Time

We are partnering with a leading global consulting firm known for its diverse projects and collaborative culture, that is actively seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to join their expert Fire Engineering Team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to landmark projects and shape fire safety strategies for a wide array of internal and external clients across South Africa and potentially internationally.
This is a pivotal role where you will serve as an expert technical consultant on fire safety, prevention, protection, and life safety engineering issues. You will be responsible for the full project management lifecycle of fire safety and fire system design aspects for all assigned projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams including BIM specialists.

What you’ll be responsible for:
• Providing consulting engineering and project management for all fire safety and fire system design aspects of assigned projects.
• Developing comprehensive fire safety plans (evacuation, wayfinding, equipment, fire-rated construction, escape widths), utilizing advanced methods like computer-aided hydraulic design, CFD analysis, and evacuation modelling.
• Designing various fire protection systems (detection, sprinklers, gas suppression, smoke control systems).
• Reviewing 2D and 3D drawings prepared by the BIM team.
• Managing project financials including fee proposals, invoicing, time, and resource management.
• Involvement in management responsibilities such as revenue forecasts, resource allocation, bidding on and winning new projects, and client liaison.
• Role modelling SHEQ performance and contributing to risk identification for a Zero Harm environment.

What you’ll bring:
• BEng / BSc / BTech Degree from an accredited university.
• 5-8 years’ experience in Fire Engineering.
• Experience within the Consulting Engineering Industry and Data Centre experience.
• Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng. Or Pr. Tech. Eng)
• Strong knowledge and experience in all local fire safety codes (e.g., NBR, SANS 10400, ASIB).
• Knowledge and experience in other international codes and standards (e.g., BS 9999, NFPA 101, BS 7974, IFEG).
• Proficient in Pyrosim, Pathfinder, Canute, and similar approved software.
• A valid Code B driver’s license and own mode of transportation.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as and when required.
