We are partnering with a global leader in solar photovoltaic energy and battery storage systems that is actively seeking a Contract Manager to join their team in Johannesburg. This firm operates across the entire renewable energy value chain, from development and construction to O&M, powering a cleaner, greener future.
This role is for a proactive individual who can expertly navigate and resolve contractual complexities across all business units, from pre-contract stages through to project delivery. You’ll be instrumental in protecting the company’s interests and ensuring contractual compliance on major projects.
Responsibilities:
• Pre-Contract & Bid Support: Providing commercial and legal input into bid strategies, ensuring tenders and contracts protect the company’s interests, and leading negotiations for contract terms.
• EPC & Project Specific Contract Management:
o Managing and coordinating EPC Contracts and all related agreements, licenses, and permits from start to finish.
o Preparing and monitoring comprehensive lists of contractual obligations.
o Assisting in drafting subcontracts and supply contracts, ensuring back-to-back conditions with the EPC Contract.
o Supporting the Project Director and Project Team in day-to-day management, risk matrix development, and achieving project milestones.
o Analyzing applicable laws, managing variation orders and claims (including legal brief preparation), and monitoring financing instruments and insurance.
o Providing oversight and assistance to the Project Team on contract conditions for quality, work schedule, and budgets.
• O&M Contract Management: Developing obligation matrices, identifying critical performance areas, enforcing terms, and managing remedial interventions.
• General Functions: Conducting regular audits of contract compliance, effectively resolving contractual disputes, and providing guidance on rights and obligations.
Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Law, or Engineering.
• 2-3 years of experience performing similar functions.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Strong knowledge of Contracts, with a preference for candidates with a proven track record in the renewable energy space.
• A clear understanding of operational and financial risks.
• Knowledge of Purchasing and Manufacturing processes.
If you are a driven Contracts Manager with a passion for renewable energy and the expertise to manage complex agreements, this is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to significant projects.
