Senior Software Developer Full Time

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Software Developer to play a pivotal role in modernising a high-performance software platform. This opportunity is ideal for a technically driven developer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, influencing software architecture, mentoring developers, and delivering scalable solutions within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Analyse an existing C++ codebase and lead the design and implementation of a high-performance rewrite using an appropriate modern programming language.
• Develop scalable, secure and maintainable software solutions.
• Process MIME-formatted emails, implementing business cards, disclaimers, banners and tracking links.
• Develop complex regular expressions to ensure accurate content placement across email replies and forwards.
• Migrate business logic from PostgreSQL stored procedures into modern API services.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to support deployment within an Azure Kubernetes microservices environment.
• Contribute to software architecture and technical decision-making.
• Mentor developers through code reviews and technical guidance.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Produce clean, well-documented and maintainable code.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years’ professional software development experience.
• Strong ability to read, understand and modernise existing C++ applications.
• Expertise in at least one high-performance programming language such as Rust, Go, Java or C#.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL and complex SQL development.
• Strong understanding of API development and microservices architecture.
• Experience working with Azure, Kubernetes and modern DevOps practices.
• Excellent knowledge of software design principles and design patterns.
• Previous experience providing technical leadership and mentoring developers.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
