Senior Mechanical Engineer Full Time

A well-established consulting engineering practice in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services to lead a growing division. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in building services design, particularly with an interest in luxury lodges and off-grid developments.
You’ll play a pivotal role in managing diverse wet services and HVAC projects, both locally and internationally. Beyond project delivery, you’ll be a mentor and leader, holding team members accountable and nurturing client relationships.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Managing a diverse portfolio of wet services & HVAC projects.
• Applying expert building engineering & project management knowledge.
• Mentoring and guiding project team members.
• Ensuring technical, contractual, schedule, budgetary, and client service objectives are met.
• Applying strong mechanical engineering skills and oversight to all projects.

What You’ll Bring:
• BSc or BTech in Mechanical Engineering
• Professional registration with ECSA.
• Experience in Fire design & GBCSA/LEED accreditation would be a significant advantage.
• Proven experience (min 5 years) in the complete design and detailing of HVAC & plumbing systems for residential, hospitality, commercial, and retail buildings.
• Knowledge of thermal modelling for SANS 10400-XA rational designs.
• Ability and interest in designing services for off-grid & remote developments using alternative technologies.
• Functional knowledge of BIM software (Revit MEP), MS Office, AutoCAD, and thermal modelling software (e.g., Carrier HAP &/or Designbuilder).
• Willingness to travel abroad to remote sites.
