Project Development Specialist Full Time

A leading international renewable energy company is expanding its footprint in Africa and is seeking a Project Development Specialist to join their team in South Africa. With a strong presence in Europe, Africa, and Asia, this organisation is driving the global shift to clean energy through the development, construction, and operation of diversified renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, energy storage, and transmission infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the full lifecycle development of renewable energy projects, from greenfield to ready-to-build (RTB) stage.
• Identify and secure suitable land for renewable energy projects.
• Manage the permitting process, including environmental and town planning clearances.
• Engage with stakeholders including landowners, local authorities, Eskom, and consultants.
• Travel extensively to conduct site visits, liaise with stakeholders, and ensure project progress.
• Collaborate closely with the company’s head office and technical advisors in project planning and execution.
• Monitor developments in the renewable energy sector and apply best practices in project delivery.
• Actively contribute to the company’s regional growth and business development.

Minimum Requirements:
• 3+ years of experience in renewable energy project development through all stages to RTB.
• Sound understanding of permitting processes for RES projects.
• Experience in land acquisition and dealing with local authorities.
• Knowledge of real estate legal principles.
• Strong negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with large-scale solar PV and wind projects; hydrogen project experience is a plus.
• Understanding of cultural nuances across international markets.
